Reading Israel Regardie's The Art of True Healing - Part 4

I am working from the Helios Books edition 1970. The original was first published in 1937 and has been through many editions since, so yours may be slightly different to mine, but not in its overall ideas. There is a pdf copy available for free here which will do the job. It is a deceptively simple book which can be read through in no time at all. Full digestion and appreciation of it takes much longer though. For additional background and context I am also drawing from The One Year Manual by Israel Regardie, where he explains this practice in a different way, I have also referred to I Called it Magic by Gareth Knight (the man who set up Helios Books) as well as the 800+pages of the Golden Dawn teachings, as compiled by Israel Regardie.

So, last time we were considering the diagram above, the location of the five elemental centres within the body. (Remember that we are definitely not talking about chakras or anything chakra-related). Hopefully you can now recall from memory the names of those elemental centres…

Above the head - God/Christ

Throat - Air

Middle of Chest - Fire

Genitals - Water

Feet - Earth

We must be become increasingly aware and conscious of these locations whenever we are standing up straight or laying down. Once you know what is where, instantly from memory without consulting your notes, then you are ready to begin the work of balancing those forces within you.

These five elemental centres serve to ‘step down’ the vibrations of God/Christ, through your numbers, into a workable form within a human body. Just like the power that comes from a nuclear power station is regulated, through sub-stations and transformers, to lower and lower voltages until it comes out of the plug in our wall in a usable form, so something similar happens with cosmic energy. The energy from Source, God, is too much for us to handle directly, so it is transformed into usable power through the elemental centres in our body. Sadly, in many people what should be a smooth and natural flow is often disjointed, broken, or incomplete. This process sets that straight.

When our Four Roads, which detail the life of our Soul, are mis-aligned with, or in conflict with, the elemental form of the body then all manner of difficulties occur, from extreme personalities or damaging behaviours through to all types of illness. And things are even worse when God/Christ is not present. This process aims to correct all that, to create what most of us are not, a complete human being, from which good health flows.

For people with Master Numbers, Karmic Debt Numbers or those who have lived for a long time in the negative of their numbers this process is hard. For everyone else it is easier, though it still takes time, for in truth most of us are unbalanced, but because we don’t know where the centre is we believe ourselves to be ok. There are many implications to what I am saying here, chiefly that what most people call uniqueness is actually chaos and imbalance. Uniqueness, when it truly flows from the Soul, does so in a clear and harmonious way.

So, let’s get into the main practice and actually do this thing now…

Israel Regardie tells us that there are three ways to stimulate these elemental centres - thought, colour and sound - so for each of the five centres we are going to think of it, give it a colour and speak to it. We don’t have to do all these things at once, at first. It’s just a matter of piecing all the parts of the practice together until you can, and that may take time.

So, step one, rhytmic breathing. Get yourself into the state we discussed previously, with a steady, rhythmic breath. Give yourself a good few minutes with this. Then locate the first of the five centres, the one above your head. Treat this is a lamp, and switch this light on by imagining that it is a brilliant white light pulsating directly above the top of your head. Now speak the magic word

Eheieh

This is Hebrew for I AM and is pronounced Eh-heh-yeh. See below for an example of how to say this.

At first you may wish to speak this in silence, but eventually you will need to speak it aloud.

It is important to force nothing here. There should be no strain at all. The process is perfectly natural and you should, if you open up and relax sufficiently, be able to feel the benefit of this Light of God. We are after a delicate balance between making a willed, intentional action to do this, and then simply allowing it to happen. If you are too forceful, too dynamic and too active OR too passive then you won’t get the right vibe. It is important to balance ‘doing’ and ‘being’, and when performing this practice not to be too much in one or the other.

The brilliant white light and energy which you have switched on above your head comes from God, not you, so its supply is inexhaustible. See (imagine, pretend) that this lamp light glows and shines as a sphere and then starts to emit a white shaft of light down through the skull and the brain and the head, stopping at the throat. Important - the sphere doesn’t move, it stays above your head, but a white shaft of light descends from it.

Regardie then continues by describing the process of how that shaft of white light continues down through the body, stopping each time at one of the elemental centres where you speak (vibrate) some magic words and then complete the process by adding a colour. I suggest that you print out the diagram at the top of this page (or copy the one in the book itself) and add to it the colour, the name of the elemental centre, and the magic words. If you want to send this to me to check that is ok. I have recorded what I think the words should sound like. They should be vibrated, not merely spoken. That means the voice vibration is felt in the body, in the location of that centre.

Take your time with this. Do not rush it. Make the effort to really feel the white shaft of light as it descends down through the centre of your body and as it forms spheres in the five elemental centres. Pro tip: when bringing the light down in the centre of your body make sure that it’s in the centre left to right, but also the centre front to back. For a lot of people, at first, this process seems to happen at the front of their body, or even outside in front of them. But that’s no good. It needs to happen inside the very central core of your body. Also make sure that the spheres are 3-dimensional balls of light, not just flat circles.

Thought, sound colour - these are the three stages of developing this process. You don’t have to bring them all into play at once, but the goal is to think of the elemental centre, utter (vibrate) the magic word(s) and see the colour, all at the same time. It’s not as hard as it seems, practice makes perfect. Refer to the book itself for the relevant colours and sounds. Re-read the relevant pages of the book to be sure you know what you are doing. All this may be new and unfamiliar. This may generate anxiety and/or uncertainty in you. If so just breathe and pause. The process is perfectly safe, so long as you follow the instructions and do not add anything to it. It is, in fact, an extremely holy practice. Growth requires the overcoming of obstacles and the learning of new things, and this is great opportunity to turbo-charge that process.

Over to you, give it a try.

Do please reach out with any questions or comments below so everyone can see them. No question or comment will be deemed stupid. It is quite safe to attempt this practice for anything up to 20-30 minutes every day, if you so wish. Less is also fine, if that is the pace at which you learn. Aim, at this stage, to attain familiarity and comfort with the practice, not mastery.

Sooner or later a reaction is induced physically in the disappearance of the disease, and the consequent building up of new cells and tissue... the appearance of health itself.

More in 3-4 weeks time. Please consider what is being said here as deeply as you can. Continue with deliberate God awareness and ordered breathing, while now also becoming aware of these Elemental centres and beginning the process of activating them through thought, colour and sound. Reach out with questions in the comments below please so everyone can share in the process. Please excuse any typos. Read ahead in the book itself if you wish, but It is important to tackle each stage of the practice in turn, before proceeding to the next.

Repeated re-reading of both the book itself, and these commentaries is advised. The messages he communicates are deceptively simple and easy to overlook. The book is short but pretty much every sentence is valuable.
